About
Ok, here’s the basics. For more, you’ll have to ask me or get my file from the FBI.
The name is Bryan Volz. I was born when Reagan was in the process of being elected. I’ve been in Louisville, KY most of my life, with aspirations of Chicago and München. I’ve been involved with Louisville’s punk/hardcore scene for over 15 years now and played in a number of bands, set up shows, put out records (actual vinyl as well as CDs and tapes), done a fair amount of promotion, and been in a little bit of trouble (thanks, Louisville Noise Ordinance!). I put out my own low-run magazine in high school as well as worked occasionally with BRAT Magazine (circulation of over 10,000 at the peak). I volunteered for several years at the Bardstown Road Youth Cultural Center which was helped out considerably by then-Alderman Bill Allison.
I have a Bachelors of Arts in Graphic Design from IU, and have been working on and off in the field of web design for about 5 years and solidly full time since March 08. The design program in school was focused towards print design, and I’m at home doing magazine layouts or coding web UI. While enrolled at IU Southeast, I worked in the Media Services department as a web designer before I moved into the Design Center Internship – which involved everything from web design to videography and low-level journalism skills.
At some point in the past – yes, I ran around town in a wizard costume (it’s a funny story).
I currently work for InGrid Design as their lead Web Developer. This position has let me try my hand at practically every facet of web development – from project management to straight PHP/MySQL programming, fixing up old ASP code and .NetNuke installs, installing tons of WordPress and Joomla installations, combating spam daily and performing server/network maintenance, and of course design and standards-based coding.
In my off time, I run Louisville Hardcore.com – one of the most comprehensive sites in the world dedicated to a local music scene – with over 1000 flyers, 3,000+ page wiki, 5+ years worth of blog/news entries, videos, and more. I play in some bands, follow Bayern Munich and Chelsea, just started working out 4-5 days a week, and a whole lot more. Ich spreche Deutsch, und möchte auf München umziehen. Mein Lebenslauf ist kommt bald.
